Pauli Lyytinen + Jacky Molard & François Corneloup quartet (fr)
Vapaat äänet and Etnosoi! join forces in a fascinating journey between jazz and ethno.
The evening starts with the versatile saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen who takes his instruments to the extreme in his solo project. In his hands, the saxophone is at once a bass, a harmonica and a solo instrument, often with a rhythmic element. Lyytinen creates entire musical worlds, sometimes coloured with effects, sometimes entirely acoustic. Lyytinen's second solo album Lehto | Korpi will be released in autumn 2024.
Entre les terres - between earths, declare violinist Jacky Molard and saxophonist Francois Corneloup in their new band that has formed after a hiatus. Molard is one of the leading figures in Breton folk music, and has long been a champion of the renewal of tradition. Corneloup, on the other hand, is a pioneer of the French jazz scene, a respected craftsman of improvised music. They both compose colourful pieces for the quartet that includes the talented interpreter of contemporary classical music, clarinetist Catherine Delaunay, and cello virtuoso Vincent Courtois, who is well known from his many visits to Finland.
