Island Village celebrates the release of the eponymous album by accordion artist Viivi Maria Saarenkylä.

SAARENKYLÄ is a five-piece prog-folk band whose virtuosic playing brings a distinctive touch to the Finnish global music scene. Their music weaves together influences from South American rhythmic traditions, jazz, and pop, all underpinned by the Nordic folk sensibilities of Viivi Maria’s accordion playing—honed by her experiences around the world. Improvisations bounce and grooves deepen as the songs’ stories delve into the complexities of human life. Nordic melancholy takes on humorous undertones as the band explores themes ranging from the romantic prospects of sparsely populated rural Finland to the steps of a "death-polka."
